SUMMARY:Proven Alternative Treatments for ADHD
DESCRIPTION:In this two-hour continuing education web conference\, Dr. Stephanie Moulton Sarkis will help clinicians understand the motivations behind why some individuals diagnosed with ADHD prefer not to take medication. She will describe the best practices for assessing the needs of the whole person rather than addressing the diagnosis or disorder alone. \nDr. Sarkis will discuss medications used to treat ADHD while describing their benefits and side effects. She will demonstrate how a clinician can weigh the practical and financial differences between different types of treatments. Dr. Sarkis’ will unravel some of the myths surrounding medication and lifestyle choices such as diet and exercise so that clinicians are better able to assist individuals in therapy by helping them make informed choices about their treatment. \nMedication may not always be the answer for individuals diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
